We’ve all been guilty of skipping breakfast now and then, but we shouldn’t! It’s true that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you the energy you need to go about your day, it kick-starts your metabolism, and it can help you achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
In your child, eating a healthy breakfast has shown to improve testing scores, and lessen the frequency of tardiness and absences. In short, children who eat breakfast do better in school than those who do not!
However, it can be difficult for busy parents to find the time to make healthy meals in the mornings. It sometimes seems easier to take an unhealthy route or skip the meal altogether. Luckily, smoothies are a great option! They’re quick and easy to make, and they contain fruits and vegetables that will contribute to the dental health (and overall health!) of your child.
Below are two of our favorite smoothie recipes:
1 cup orange juice
1 cup vanilla low-fat yogurt
1/8 tsp ground cinnamon
1 ripe banana
1 cup milk
½ cup rolled oats
10 frozen strawberries
