A protective layer
over the tooth
Dental sealant is a clear, plastic coating applied to the surface of your child’s teeth in order to prevent tooth decay (link to Tooth Decay page). The sealant, painted on as a liquid, will seep into the grooves of the teeth, forming a clear, protective layer over the enamel of each tooth.
Sealants are especially helpful for kids just learning to brush because they can’t always get into all the grooves of the back teeth. Sealants protect these areas from forming harmful decay.
To schedule an appointment with our child's dentist to further discuss sealants for your child, please call our pediatric dental office in Parker, Colorado.
