Growth Monitoring

A+ A- A Main Content

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children visit an orthodontist at 7 for an orthodontic evaluation. In most cases, children aged 7 are too young to begin active orthodontic treatment. However, this is the perfect age to begin evaluating conditions and treatment options for the future. Our pediatric orthodontist can begin monitoring the growth of your child's teeth. Observation appointments can be made while your child is just making the transition from baby teeth to adult teeth. And with children's dentistry and orthodontics in one place, we provide a convenience you cannot find in most pediatric dental offices.

Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics

Our pediatric dentist and orthodontist can monitor your child's dental development together. As our dentists watch for potential growth problems, our orthodontist can determine the right time to begin orthodontic treatment. During the evaluation process and while we monitor your child's growth, we will look for or ask about the following:

  • Trouble chewing
  • Mouth breathing
  • The late loss of baby teeth
  • Thumb sucking
  • Crowded teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Speech problems
  • Grinding of teeth
  • Clicking of the jaw joints

Our goal with growth monitoring is to create awareness and a healthy environment for your child's permanent teeth to erupt. Monitoring orthodontic issues can help create a foundation of excellent oral health and a beautiful smile!

To make an appointment for your child to be seen by our orthodontist, don't hesitate to get in touch with our Parker, CO, pediatric dentistry and orthodontics office today.
