The Importance Of Being Thankful

A+ A- A Main Content

To some people, Thanksgiving is mostly about turkey, cranberry sauce, and delicious pie. However, Thanksgiving is more about gratitude than anything else. We should really practice gratitude every day of the year instead of just on Thanksgiving. This is because gratitude can have a pretty positive impact on your health!

4 Reasons Why Being Grateful Is Healthy

There has been no shortage of research done on the correlation between health and thankfulness. Below are a few of the findings:

  • Heart Healthy – It’s been found that those who are more thankful for what they have will typically have better sleep patterns, happier moods, and less inflammation. These are all qualities that can decrease the risk of heart disease.
  • Optimistic – Consistently being grateful and being aware of things to be thankful for can contribute to a healthier and more positive outlook on life. If you look for things to make you happy, you’ll feel happier! Science has officially proven it!
  • Get More Sleep – If you’re having trouble sleeping, try writing down things that you’re grateful for before you go to bed. It’s been reported that those who kept gratitude journals slept better, longer, and more peacefully than those who did not.
  • Make More Friends – Everyone wants to feel appreciated. By expressing your gratitude for those around you, you can strengthen current relations and help solidify new ones.

Here at Little Rockies Pediatric Dentistry, we’re most grateful for our patients and their happy, healthy smiles! We’d like to wish you all a happy (and delicious!) Thanksgiving holiday!
