Dentistry is the branch of medicine that solves problems related to your oral cavity. There are all types of dentists available for different dental problems. However, to tend to your child’s dental needs, you must visit a pediatric dentist and not a general dentist. And yes, there’s a difference.
Let’s explore both types of dentists further.
A general dentist specializes in performing routine procedures and evaluates the basic health of your teeth. They aren’t equipped to perform extensive and complicated procedures, ones that are needed for more severe dental problems. General dentists are best if you want the overall health of your teeth and gums checked. They specialize in teeth cleanings and dental restorations.
A pediatric dentist specifically specialized in children’s oral health, and they know everything there is to know about children’s teeth and the problems associated with them. They are known to provide treatments such as installing braces onto children’s teeth or fitting in wires to realign the jaw if needed. In addition, they prescribe the appropriate medication that can best aid in the recovery of the child’s dental problems.
