Choosing the right toothpaste for your family

Walking down the aisle in your local super market looking for toothpaste can be a confusing ordeal. So many brands offering so many different options for oral health. Sometimes you wonder why we can’t have just one super toothpaste that does it all. To reduce confusing in increase oral health try these tips when you are shopping for toothpaste for the family.

What to look for:

Make sure your toothpaste has the ADA seal of approval. It’s a quality mark that lets you know you are dealing with a quality product that will work as intended. Next, look for a toothpaste that contains fluoride. Fluoride will help make tooth enamel nice and strong and will also help in the prevention of tooth decay. Now if your children are really young try a fun toothpaste or tooth brush or even a fun flavor they would enjoy. This will help to reinforce good habits around oral care.

Gels or Paste?

I am going to make your life a bit easier….this is personal preference. Gels and pastes are typically the same thing and do the same thing. So pick the one you like best and don’t worry about it anymore.

Finally, the next time you visit your family dentist or pediatric dentist ask him what they recommend for your family solution.
